Somali, Turkish Presidents Meet in Ankara to Deepen Strategic Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANKARA: Federal Republic of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, in a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across key sectors.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace, forms part of president Mohamud’s official visit to Turkey and underscores the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
According to officials, discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in areas including economic development, security, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure, building on a longstanding relationship marked by Turkish investment and support in Somalia’s post-conflict recovery.
“Turkey has consistently stood by Somalia during its most difficult moments,” President Mohamud said, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and development ties.
The two leaders also reiterated their shared vision for regional stability and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in combating terrorism and promoting sustainable development.
Turkey remains one of Somalia’s closest international allies, with Ankara playing a key role in infrastructure development, military training, and humanitarian assistance since 2011.
