Somali urges Somalis work together to overcome challenges
The President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called on all Somalis to work together to overcome the current challenges and build a future together.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day Somali Global Diaspora conference in Mogadishu, Mohamud said his government has done something tangible, but there is still much work to be done.
“The Government has the power to transfer the efforts committed to do most of the tasks expected interim governments in the past, circumstances and challenges faced due season. I believe we have to move,together can deliver,” said Hassan.
The conference which has been running for the last three days has brought together over hundred Somalis from different parts of the world.
Finally, the president urged the Somali Diaspora Community to invest the country.
According to the organizers of the conference, the aim of conference was create harmony and interaction the locals and those Somalis from abroad,
Early 1990s when Somali government led late Mohamed Siyad Barre was toppled, civil war broke out which prompted hundreds of thousands of Somalia to fled the country.
Many somali youths are risking their lives to try and enter Europe on unseaworthy boats in search for a better life and a vast unemployment that engulfed across Somalia.
Many die atrocious deaths – beaten, thrown overboard, eaten by sharks, drowned or asphyxiated in the hold of crowded smuggler boats.
Despite of the war in Yemen which has caused many to flee and humanitarian crisis, Somalia immigrants are still determined enough to cross the dangerous sea and reach the gulf country.
