Somalia, African Union agree to strengthen security coordination
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and the African Union have agreed to strengthen coordination on security operations and stabilization efforts following talks between senior officials in Mogadishu.
The outcome of the meeting includes closer cooperation between Somalia’s Ministry of Internal Security and the African Union mission in the country to support ongoing security operations and reinforce peacebuilding initiatives.
Internal Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail and the African Union’s Special Envoy for Somalia El Hadji Ibrahima Diene discussed ways to enhance joint security efforts and improve coordination mechanisms aimed at stabilizing the country.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration to strengthen Somalia’s security institutions and support long-term peace and stability.
The meeting was also attended by Somalia’s National Security Adviser Aweis Hagi Yusuf Ahmed and the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security, Yusuf Ali Mohamed.
