Somalia, Algeria Pledge Closer Cooperation in Security and Development
GOOBJOOG NEWS | ALGIERS: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday met Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Algiers to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two nations in security, trade, education, and health.
President Mohamud, who is on an official visit to Algeria, was received with full honors at the Al-Mouradia Presidential Palace, where the two leaders held private talks followed by bilateral discussions involving senior officials from both sides.
The meeting underscored a shared commitment to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, both members of the Arab League and the African Union.
President Mohamud thanked President Tebboune and the Algerian people for what he described as a warm and brotherly welcome, saying the visit highlights “a deep and historic friendship built on mutual respect and solidarity.”
On his part, President Tebboune praised Somalia’s progress toward peace and reconstruction, reaffirming Algeria’s support for the Federal Government’s state-building and stabilization efforts.
Officials said the talks will pave the way for new cooperation agreements in education, healthcare, investment and security training.
