Somalia attends Anti-Corruption conference in Djibouti for the first time

GOOBJOOG NEWS|DJIBOUTI: The 8th International Forum on Anti-Corruption and Integrated Institutions (FIGE) scheduled to take place from 7-8th June has officially opened in Djibouti, Republic of Djibouti.

Somalia, which is attending the conference for the first time, will be represented by members of the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission led by Commissioner Khadar Ahmed Diriye, and will be accompanied by Commissioner Abdullahi Abukar.

The conference was opened by the President of the Republic of Djibouti Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh welcomed the participating world leaders and delegates. The President also warmly welcomed Somalia’s membership in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (FIGE).

During the three-day conference, which will focus on good governance, institutional performance and anti-corruption, members representing Somalia will hold separate meetings with participating leaders and international organizations. 

Somalia is stepping up its efforts to promote transparency and accountability in government institutions as well as the fight against all forms of corruption.
