GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and the African Union have agreed to deepen cooperation on counter-terrorism, public awareness, and peacebuilding, officials said on Wednesday after high-level talks in Mogadishu.

Somali Information Minister Daud Aweis Jama met El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, the newly appointed AU Special Representative and head of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), to discuss political, security, and stabilization priorities.

Aweis hailed recent military gains against insurgents, saying battlefield successes had renewed hopes of “full liberation” from terrorism.

Diene praised Somalia’s progress and pledged continued AU support for peace, development, and stability.

The talks were attended by senior Somali and AU officials, including AUSSOM’s deputy head and force commander.
