This was discussed Friday during a meeting in Baku between Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

The two sides also discussed ways of establishing a joint mechanism to enhance cooperation and advance mutual interests, covering several regional and international issues of shared concern.

Further, the two sides explored potential areas for collaboration, including agriculture, fisheries, the oil and gas industry, green energy, humanitarian efforts, and education.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Fiqi stated that the existing diplomatic engagement between the two nations underscores a commitment to deepening ties and exploring new avenues for partnership, reflecting the evolving dynamics of international cooperation. On his part, Minister Bayramov noted that since establishing diplomatic ties 20 years ago, and particularly in recent years, increased contact between Azerbaijan and Somalia has been crucial in exploring cooperation opportunities.

He emphasized the significance of these mechanisms in expanding collaboration in line with the agreement on political consultations signed between the two countries.
