Somalia Backs Unified Arab Response to Cyber Threats at Riyadh Meeting

GOOBJOOG NEWS | RIYADH: Somalia’s Minister of Communications and Technology, Mohamed Adan Moalim, has urged Arab states to step up cooperation against cybercrime during the second Arab Cybersecurity Ministers’ Council meeting in Riyadh.
Ministers and senior officials from Arab League member states gathered to discuss ways to strengthen digital security across the region. In his address, Mohamed called for a unified approach, highlighting the need to build technical capacity, secure critical infrastructure and invest in innovation, including artificial intelligence.
The minister said Somalia now treats internet security as a national security priority and is developing systems to strengthen its defenses. He pledged Somalia’s full support for the council’s decisions and readiness to cooperate with regional partners on cybersecurity.
Officials said the meeting underlined a shared recognition among Arab states of the rising cyber threat and the importance of collective action to safeguard national and regional digital spaces.
