Somalia Calls for Results-Driven China-Africa Cooperation at Changsha Forum

GOOBJOOG NEWS | CHANGSHA: Somalia has reaffirmed its commitment to a deeper, action-oriented partnership with China at a high-level Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) meeting held in Changsha, Hunan Province.
Speaking at the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on FOCAC Outcomes, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, urged for a shift toward more results-driven cooperation between China and African nations.
“Somalia envisions a future where partnerships create real opportunities, where we build, produce, educate, and connect,” Minister Ali said. “This is not about rhetoric, but about outcomes that uplift lives.”
He praised China’s latest initiatives under President Xi Jinping and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, noting their alignment with Africa’s evolving development priorities, particularly in digital transformation, infrastructure, and human capital.
Over the past 25 years since FOCAC’s launch, China-Africa relations have delivered significant gains, from transportation networks to innovation hubs, the Minister noted. Somalia, he said, is now prioritizing sectors such as digital governance, education, trade, and infrastructure, seeking partnerships that yield measurable improvements for its citizens.
The Changsha meeting comes as Somalia reasserts itself on the regional and global stage, aiming to secure inclusive growth and sustainable development through strategic cooperation.
As FOCAC enters a new phase, Somalia expressed readiness to contribute meaningfully, emphasizing mutual respect, shared goals, and practical implementation.
