GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Mogadishu and the rest of Somalia today marked Eid with widespread celebrations, as thousands of people poured into major streets to share in the joy of the holiday.
This year’s Eid stood out from previous celebrations because it was observed simultaneously across all regions of the country. In past years, differences in moon sighting often meant that some areas celebrated a day later than others.
In Mogadishu, the city was filled with activity as large crowds of people, including children, youth and the elderly, were seen in the streets dressed in new clothes and exchanging Eid greetings.
Public squares and recreational sites also became some of the busiest places, with many families spending quality time together while children enjoyed games and various festive activities.
One of the most notable features of this year’s celebration was the sense of unity and harmony among Somalis, as all parts of the country observed Eid on the same day, reinforcing a shared feeling of togetherness and national joy.
