GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia has completed a new phase of training for immigration officers on the PISCES security system, a key tool used to monitor travelers and strengthen national border controls.

The Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA), Mustafa Duhulow, officially closed the second phase of the training program in Mogadishu, where officers were awarded certificates after several days of technical instruction.

The PISCES system is used to verify identities and track cross-border movements, and is seen as central to wider government efforts to modernize immigration services and improve security at airports, seaports and land checkpoints.

Duhulow praised the participants for their commitment, saying the program was part of a long-term plan to upgrade Somalia’s border management infrastructure and link key entry points across the country.

“Strengthening the capacity of our officers is essential for securing our borders and improving service delivery,” he said.

Officials say more training phases are planned as Somalia expands the use of digital systems and seeks to tighten oversight of travel documentation and migration flows.
