GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia has condemned a deadly attack on a church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate, calling for those responsible to be brought to justice and reaffirming its opposition to terrorism and violence against places of worship.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the attack had killed and injured worshippers, describing it as an act of terrorism.

The ministry did not provide casualty figures or identify those responsible for the attack.

“Places of worship of every faith are sacred,” the ministry said, stressing that Somalia, having experienced the devastating consequences of terrorism, rejects violence and extremism in all their forms.

Mogadishu expressed solidarity with the Jordanian government and people, offering condolences to the families of those killed and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Somalia also called for those behind the attack to be held accountable.

The condemnation reflects Somalia’s longstanding position against attacks targeting civilians and religious institutions, as the country continues its own struggle against Al-Shabaab militants.

Somalia and Jordan maintain diplomatic relations, with both countries participating in regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and promote stability.

The latest statement underscores Somalia’s support for the protection of religious communities and its rejection of violence against civilians, regardless of faith.
