Somalia Condemns RSF Attacks on Civilians and Aid Convoys in Sudan
GOOBJOOG NEWS| MOGADISHU — Somalia has strongly condemned recent attacks by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces on civilian facilities and humanitarian convoys in North and South Kordofan, describing the assaults as grave violations of international law.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Somalia said the attacks — carried out on 6 and 7 February 2026 — targeted civilian infrastructure and humanitarian supply routes, and called for the protection of civilians, the facilitation of unhindered humanitarian access, and strict adherence to the Jeddah Declaration.
The ministry reaffirmed Somalia’s support for the unity, sovereignty, and security of Sudan, warning that continued attacks on civilians and aid operations risk deepening the humanitarian crisis and destabilising the wider region.
Sudan has been in conflict since April 2023, following fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
The war has displaced millions and triggered one of the world’s worst humanitarian emergencies. In early February 2026, renewed violence in North and South Kordofan included attacks on civilian areas and humanitarian convoys on 6 and 7 February, drawing international concern over violations of international humanitarian law and the obstruction of life-saving aid.
