Somalia, Djibouti Reaffirm Ties as President Hosts Delegation In Las Anod

GOOBJOOG NEWS | LAS ANOD: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received a senior delegation from Djibouti in Las Anod, where the officials were attending the inauguration of the region’s newly elected leadership.

During talks, President Mohamud thanked Djibouti for what he described as its long-standing support for Somalia during periods of conflict and political transition. He said Djibouti had played a key role in backing Somalia’s independence, territorial integrity and state-building efforts.

According to the presidency, the president also praised Djibouti’s continued involvement in peace initiatives and development programmes, calling the relationship between the two countries strategic and fraternal.

The Djiboutian delegation congratulated the federal government on recent diplomatic efforts and reiterated Djibouti’s support for Somalia’s unity and sovereignty. Officials said their country remained firmly committed to the preservation of Somalia’s territorial cohesion.

The delegation included Djibouti’s Minister of Religion and Endowments Mu’min Hassan Barre, Minister of Communication Ridwan Abdullahi Bahdon and the Djiboutian ambassador to Somalia, along with other senior officials.

Djibouti has long been a key regional ally of Somalia; hosting peace talks in the past and contributing to regional security initiatives in the Horn of Africa.
