GOOBJOOG NEWS | CAIRO: Somalia and Egypt pledged to deepen diplomatic and strategic cooperation following high-level talks in Cairo on Monday, signaling a renewed commitment to regional stability and institutional development in the Horn of Africa.

Kamal Dahir Gutale, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Somali Prime Minister, led a federal government delegation in a meeting with General Osama Sayyid, Secretary-General of Egypt’s Council of Ministers.

The talks centered on bolstering bilateral relations, with an emphasis on governance reform, capacity-building, and public sector modernization.

The visit comes as both countries seek to align their development priorities and strengthen coordination on shared regional interests. Officials highlighted the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement, mutual technical support, and joint initiatives to address governance challenges.

“These discussions mark a pivotal step toward institutional collaboration that reflects the enduring brotherhood between our nations,” Gutale said, following the meeting.

Egypt welcomed Somalia’s reform agenda and expressed its readiness to offer training and technical assistance for Somali civil servants.

The meeting signals Cairo’s growing interest in deepening its influence in the Horn of Africa, as Somalia looks to diversify strategic partnerships beyond the Gulf and East African regions.
