Somalia, Egypt Ink Deal to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

GOOBJOOG NEWS | CAIRO: Somalia and Egypt have entered a new deal that will see the two nations further deepen bilateral relations.

The deal was discussed Sunday during a meeting between Somalia’s foreign affairs minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, Egypt.

The two discussed ways of enhancing collaboration in various sectors including; economic, political and security sectors for the mutual benefit of citizens of the two states.

Also, the two countries agreed to have a direct flight route between Somalia and Egypt which is set to commence in July – a crucial move in facilitating trade and exchange of cultural experiences between the two states.

Egyptian bank, Banque Misr also announced plans to open a branch in Somalia with an aim to enhance financial cooperation and provide better banking services, thereby contributing to the economic development of Somalia.
