Somalia Engages In AU Session Shaping Elections, G20 Strategy, SACA Progress
GOOBJOOG NEWS | ADDIS ABABA: Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation minister Abdisalam Ali, attended the opening of the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council on Wednesday at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa.
The session brings together foreign ministers from across Africa to prepare for the 39th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for February 14–15, 2026.
Ministers are reviewing key items including the report of the 51st Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee, upcoming elections and appointments within AU organs, and Africa’s strategic engagement with the G20.
The council is also evaluating progress on the Single African Continental Air Transport Authority (SACA) process.
The meeting highlights Somalia’s active participation in AU decision-making and continental policy coordination ahead of the February summit.
