Somalia, Ethiopia Agree To Deepen Security and Political Cooperation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | ADDIS ABABA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed have agreed to deepen security and political cooperation, a move aimed at strengthening stability across the Horn of Africa.
The two leaders, who met during a one-day working visit by the Somali president to Addis Ababa, reached a shared understanding on closer coordination in addressing security threats, enhancing political alignment and managing regional challenges with cross-border impact.
The talks reinforced commitments to cooperation based on mutual respect and good neighbourliness, with both sides viewing stronger bilateral ties as critical to regional peace, economic recovery and long-term stability.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to sustain regular high-level engagement, signalling a renewed push to translate diplomatic dialogue into practical cooperation between Somalia and Ethiopia.
