GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s football federation president has joined dozens of African counterparts at a high-level strategy meeting ahead of FIFA’s annual congress.

Ali Abdi Mohamed, who also serves as a vice president of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), was among 54 African football federation heads attending the gathering in Vancouver, Canada.

The meeting, led by Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, focused on developing football structures, strengthening governance and expanding growth opportunities across African associations.

It also provided a platform for African football leaders to engage directly with global governing bodies on key priorities for the sport.

Somalia’s participation reflects its growing role in regional and international football decision-making, as the country seeks to strengthen its presence within CAF and FIFA structures.

The meeting comes ahead of the 76th FIFA Congress, where global football stakeholders are expected to discuss the future direction of the game.
