GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have agreed to tighten oversight of development programs to ensure greater transparency, efficiency, and measurable impact on communities.

The meeting, led by Mahmud Said Nur, Director of the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Department, and FAO’s Head of Monitoring and Evaluation, Wakweya Tamiru, focused on reviewing joint projects for 2024–2025 and identifying ways to improve outcomes on the ground.

The discussions centered on making aid and investment programs more accountable and results-driven, ensuring that resources reach intended beneficiaries and contribute directly to Somalia’s long-term recovery.

The initiative aligns with the National Transition Plan (NTP 2025–2029), which seeks to build stronger institutions and promote sustainable growth through transparent and evidence-based development planning.

According to the Ministry, enhanced monitoring and evaluation systems are expected to increase program efficiency, foster donor confidence, and accelerate progress toward national development goals.
