GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and Germany have renewed their commitment to strengthening ties, with a focus on security cooperation and development assistance, during high-level talks in Mogadishu.

Somalia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Issack Mursal met with German Ambassador Sebastian Groth to discuss ways to deepen bilateral relations and enhance Germany’s support for Somalia’s stabilisation efforts.

The talks highlighted Germany’s continued backing through the Security and Risk Management in Somalia programme, part of a broader engagement framework dating back to agreements signed in 1979 and 2017.

“We discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation and welcomed Germany’s continued support to Somalia, particularly in the security and development sectors,” Mursal said in a post on X.

Germany has been a long-standing partner in Somalia’s post-conflict reconstruction, with its contributions aimed at institutional development, governance reform, and improving public safety.
