Somalia Gifts Traditional Artifact to World Bank in Bid to Strengthen Global Image

GOOBJOOG NEWS | NEW YORK: Somalia’s Finance Minister Bihi Egeh presented a traditional Somali artifact, the Haan, to the World Bank during the closing ceremony of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, in a move aimed at promoting Somalia’s national identity and strengthening its international profile.
The Haan, a traditional milk container, is the first Somali cultural symbol to be displayed at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. Somali officials said the gesture was part of broader efforts to rebuild the country’s image abroad and signal a new phase of engagement with global financial institutions.
Somalia has been working to reestablish its credibility internationally after decades of conflict and instability. Officials hope that initiatives such as this will contribute to restoring confidence among international partners and investors.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the IMF, the World Bank, and member countries. No financial agreements were announced at the event.
