GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia has made significant strides in rebuilding its foreign relations, Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallin Fiqi has said, as the country seeks to reassert itself on the international stage after decades of turmoil.

Speaking to national media in Mogadishu, Fiqi said the government had restored ties and deepened cooperation with a range of nations that have shown goodwill toward Somalia.

“The Somali government has succeeded in restoring diplomatic relations and cooperation with international governments,” he said. “Our priority is to pursue peaceful, mutually beneficial solutions that serve the interests of our citizens.”

Fiqi highlighted Somalia’s recent election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member, a landmark achievement he described as a source of national pride.

“It is a moment of pride for Somalia to join the Security Council and stand among key global actors, reaffirming our presence on the international stage,” he said.

The minister reiterated Somalia’s commitment to maintaining constructive engagement with the international community while safeguarding national interests. His remarks come as the government pushes broader reforms aimed at promoting stability, security, and economic growth.

After years of conflict and diplomatic isolation, Somalia’s renewed international outreach marks a pivotal chapter in its efforts to foster prosperity at home and contribute to global diplomacy.
