GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Cabinet has approved a bilateral agreement with Indonesia to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, in a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and easing official travel.

The deal was endorsed during the Council of Ministers’ weekly session chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama. Government officials hailed the agreement as a key step in expanding Somalia’s international partnerships.

In addition to foreign affairs, the Cabinet reviewed a detailed report on Mogadishu’s worsening traffic congestion. The assessment, presented by a special committee, identified key bottlenecks and proposed long-term solutions to improve urban mobility in the capital.

The ministers also received updates from the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense, focusing on national security operations, anti-militant campaigns, and stabilization efforts in newly liberated areas.

The session underscored Somalia’s dual-track commitment to external diplomacy and internal governance, balancing international cooperation with local service delivery and national security reforms.
