GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia’s Hajj Affairs Office has introduced a mandatory contractual framework for travel agencies handling this year’s pilgrimage, in a move aimed at improving oversight and protecting pilgrims’ rights.

Dr. Khadar Haji Dahir, head of the Hajj Affairs Office at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, said the new system requires service providers to sign binding agreements with pilgrims before departure.

The contracts will clearly define standards covering accommodation, transportation and on-ground services in Saudi Arabia, reducing uncertainty and ensuring that pilgrims receive the services they pay for.

The ministry said it will closely monitor compliance with the agreements to strengthen accountability among operators and guarantee a safe and well-organised pilgrimage experience for Somali nationals.

The reform is seen as as part of broader efforts by the federal government to modernise Hajj management and enhance service delivery for thousands of Somali pilgrims each year.
