GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have agreed to speed up plans to provide affordable housing for thousands of displaced families, in a move aimed at easing pressure on overcrowded settlements.
Public Works Minister Dr. Elmi Mahamoud Nur said the ministry will work with IOM to roll out new shelter designs and expand social services for vulnerable communities. The two sides also pledged to strengthen their cooperation agreement to deliver long-term housing solutions.
The initiative is expected to improve living conditions for displaced Somalis, many of whom have endured years of instability, drought and conflict.
