Somalia, Kuwait Deepen Diplomatic Ties with Focus on Economic Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | KUWAIT CITY: Somalia and Kuwait have reaffirmed their long-standing diplomatic relationship with a renewed commitment to economic cooperation and strategic investment during a high-level meeting between their finance ministries in Kuwait City.
Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Igeh, led a senior delegation that included Central Bank Governor Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi and Somalia’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Abdullahi Mohamed Shiekh.
The delegation was received by Kuwait’s Minister of Finance, Eng. Noura Sulaiman Al-Fassam, and top officials from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance.
The meeting marked a significant step forward in efforts to strengthen bilateral ties through enhanced financial collaboration.
Discussions centered on trade, targeted investment in Somalia’s productive sectors, and long-term economic development partnerships.
Minister Igeh expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s enduring support, particularly during Somalia’s international debt relief efforts, and highlighted the Somali government’s drive to attract foreign investment and bolster macroeconomic stability.
“This renewed cooperation underscores the trust and historic bond between our nations,” Minister Igeh said. “We are committed to building a resilient economy that benefits both Somali citizens and international partners.”
Both sides agreed to build on existing ties by pursuing new opportunities for financial engagement and joint initiatives aligned with Somalia’s national development agenda.
