Somalia Launches Fisheries Authority to Facilitate Quality and Safety Inspections
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia Monday unvailed the Quality and Safety Inspection Committee for Fisheries in Mogadishu.
The launch brought together ministers, parliamentarians, representatives from the fishing industry, and international organizations marking a significant step towards enhancing Somalia’s fisheries sector.
The Authority’s primary goal is to oversee the quality and safety of Somali fish products, ensuring they are fit for consumption and meet international standards.
It will also be mandated to develop improved inspection procedures to boost the competitiveness of Somali fish in both local and global markets.
Officials at the launch presented plans to modernize the fisheries industry with a focus on maintaining high safety and quality standards.
These efforts are expected to increase the sector’s efficiency, contribute to economic growth, and create better opportunities for Somali fishing communities.
