GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s 8th Annual Judicial Conference opened in Mogadishu on Wednesday, bringing together senior judges, prosecutors and security officials to review the performance of the justice system and outline priorities for the coming legal year.

The gathering serves as a platform to assess reforms and address persistent challenges facing the judiciary, as the government pushes to improve efficiency and public confidence in the rule of law.

A key focus of this year’s conference is strengthening coordination between the courts and law enforcement agencies. Senior officials, including the Chairman of the Armed Forces Court, the National Attorney General and the Benadir Regional Police Commander, led discussions on improving cooperation in handling criminal cases.

Participants examined ways to streamline procedures from investigation to prosecution and adjudication, with the aim of reducing delays and ensuring consistent application of the law.

Officials said closer institutional collaboration is intended to enhance crime prevention efforts and address the broader social impact of criminal activity.

The conference forms part of wider federal efforts to reform Somalia’s justice sector, improve accountability and expand access to fair and transparent legal processes. Authorities say building a more effective judicial system is central to strengthening stability and reinforcing public trust in state institutions.
