Somalia Launches Nationwide Ramadan Knowledge Contest

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Information, Culture and Tourism minister Daud Aweis Jama, on Wednesday inaugurated the annual Ramadan knowledge competition broadcast on national television, describing it as a platform to promote education and national cohesion.

The expanded tournament brings together 32 districts from across the country, with the opening round featuring a contest between Las Anod district in the Sool region and Karan district in the Banadir region.

The competition aims to encourage learning, critical thinking and youth participation during the holy month, while strengthening ties among communities nationwide.

The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials, including representatives of the Banadir regional administration and IBS Bank, one of the event’s main sponsors.

In his remarks, the minister underscored the importance of intellectual engagement, saying investment in knowledge and education remains central to Somalia’s long-term development and unity.
