Somalia Launches Next Phase of Civil Service Reform Training

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s National Civil Service Commission has launched the second phase of a nationwide training program aimed at implementing the country’s Civil Service Pay and Grading Policy, as part of wider efforts to reform public administration.
At a ceremony in Mogadishu, Commission Chairman Hassan Abshirow Mohamed said the training was critical for building a transparent and standardized system for salaries and job classifications across government institutions.
“This program lays the foundation for a fair and professional civil service,” Abshirow said in his opening remarks. “It will improve management and help establish a modern and efficient public sector.”
He urged members of ministerial and institutional subcommittees attending the training to carry out their duties with integrity and accountability, stressing the importance of strong leadership in delivering national reforms.
“Your role is vital in setting an example and ensuring that these reforms translate into tangible improvements in governance,” he added.
The Pay and Grading Policy is part of Somalia’s broader strategy to modernize its civil service and improve transparency, amid ongoing state-building and recovery efforts after decades of conflict.
