Somalia marks world peace day

The world is marking world peace day, this year’s theme is right of people to peace and the importance of peace to the people.

Ceremonies to honour the day are held in all parts of Somalia including the capital city Mogadishu, Baidoa, Garowe, Bosaso, Kismayo and Hargeisa, the administrative capital of the breakaway state of Somaliland in Northern Somalia.

Senior government officials are expected to join hundreds of enthusiastic crowds in designated squares and guide them towards developing peace and prosperity of the community.

The governments are expected to reaffirm a central message that realization of basic rights and freedom depends on peace and security.

In Somalia this year’s celebration of world peace day comes a time when the federal government of Somalia seems to take control of the country from Al-shabab and opened reconciliation conferences in Some parts of the country meant to promote peace and collaboration between the clans.
