Somalia Moves to Finalize Cooperation Deals with Qatar Across Key Sectors

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi has said that new agreements with Qatar would deliver concrete benefits for citizens, as he chaired a preparatory meeting on finalizing the deals.

“These memoranda are not just documents,” Abdi said, adding they are designed to strengthen state institutions and create services and opportunities for Somalis under the government’s DanQaran agenda.

The meeting focused on agreements covering defense cooperation, youth and sports, higher education and culture, media, and financial reforms in taxation and customs.

The MoUs are expected to accelerate joint projects with Qatar, boosting Somalia’s capacity in security, economic management and social development.
