Somalia participates in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in Beijing

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BEIJING: Somalia’s Ambassador to China Awale Kullane represented the Federal Government at the 16th Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Beijing, China.

The forum, which brought together senior officials from China and dozens of African countries who gathered to prepare for the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Officials said the forum brought China and Africa closer, with fruitful results over the last 23 years.

Chinese and African officials expressed hope for more cooperation in business, innovation and global governance.

Ambassador Kullane engaged in discussions on enhancing economic ties, trade, and investment opportunities between China and Somalia.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation, especially in sectors such as infrastructure development, trade, and technology transfer.

During the event, the draft minutes of the meeting were shared, reflecting the anticipated progress of the work to be done during the Senior Officials’ Meeting.

The minutes build on the previous agreements and commitments made in previous FOCAC meetings, and outlines the shared vision for future collaboration between China and African nations.

Ambassador Awale Kullane’s active participation and contributions during the 16th FOCAC Senior Officials’ Meeting reinforces the strong relationship between Somalia and China.

This partnership has been instrumental in fostering economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations, and the Somali Embassy in Beijing is committed to building on this foundation in the coming years.
