GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia cabinet has invited the Somali Future Council to take part in a national consultative forum aimed at strengthening unity and advancing a consensus-based democratic process.

The forum, scheduled to open on Feb. 1, 2026, in Mogadishu, was announced following a recommendation by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the cabinet said in a statement.

The government said the initiative was in line with ongoing efforts to promote national cohesion and dialogue, and referenced Article 6 of the Somali Future Council’s declaration, which calls for inclusive consultation.

A ministerial committee, led by Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hassan Moallin Mahmoud Sheikh Ali, has been appointed to organise the forum.

The Somali Future Council has been asked to nominate representatives to jointly coordinate preparations, shape the agenda and help ensure the talks produce constructive outcomes.
