Somalia plans to build roads linking different parts of country to boost trade
Somalia’s ministry for works plans to link different parts of the country by constructing a link roads that it hopes will increase trade.
Minister of Works Salah Sh. Osman said he also hopes peace returns to the the country to allow for the infrastructure development.
“We have decided to open up the new roads across the nation to enable faster movement of goods and boost trade,” he said.
Speaking at Meeting held in Mogadishu, Osman said they are planning to launch projects upgrade bridges, ports, roads in the country.
“We will start to repair and reconstruct brides, roads and main ports in Somalia soon as they were destroyed during the civil war in the country, it is very useful projects need” Osman said.
However, Mr. Osman has urged the public to help the government to start collecting property taxes revenue.
Somalia has last seen property taxation system in 1991 before warlords overthrew the central government led by president Mohamed Siad Barre, plunging the country into endless conflict which led to the permanent destruction of the country’s economic infrastructure and ended the rule and regulations the country has enjoyed for many years.
