Somalia, Qatar Agree To Step Up Cooperation after Leaders’ Call
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani agreed to expand bilateral cooperation following a telephone conversation.
The two leaders committed to deepening their strategic partnership, with a focus on accelerating support for economic infrastructure, strengthening federal institutions and enhancing coordination on development priorities.
President Mohamud welcomed what he described as Qatar’s continued backing for Somalia’s sovereignty and state-building agenda, while both sides signalled readiness to broaden collaboration in areas aimed at reinforcing stability and growth.
The agreement highlights Doha’s sustained engagement in Somalia and Mogadishu’s push to secure long-term partnerships to support recovery and institutional reform.
