Somalia, Qatar Officials Discuss Youth Empowerment and Sports Development in Lead-Up to Arab League Games

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Abdikadir Ali, held talks with Qatar’s Ambassador to Somalia, Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al Nuaimi, focusing on joint efforts to strengthen youth empowerment and sports development ahead of Somalia’s planned participation in the upcoming Arab League Sports Games in Doha.
During the meeting, Minister Ali outlined his ministry’s recent initiatives aimed at promoting youth inclusion, expanding access to sports facilities, and preparing Somali athletes for regional competitions.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to building sustainable structures to support young talent nationwide.
Ambassador Al Nuaimi welcomed Somalia’s plans to join the Doha-hosted Games and reiterated Qatar’s readiness to support Somalia through technical assistance, infrastructure investment, and bilateral youth exchange programs.
He underscored the strategic importance of nurturing Somali youth as a pillar of long-term stability and development.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as training, sports diplomacy, and institutional capacity building, aiming to deepen ties between Mogadishu and Doha through shared youth and sports priorities.
