Somalia Reaffirms Commitment to Pan-African Unity at AU Coordination Summit

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MALABO, Equatorial Guinea: Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, reaffirmed Mogadishu’s commitment to continental cooperation and inclusive development during the closing of the African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Representing President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the high-level gathering, Minister Abdisalam led Somalia’s delegation in discussions with African Union leaders, heads of Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and representatives from AU member states.

In his address, the minister stressed the urgency of sustainable peace, collective responsibility, and deeper regional integration as essential pillars for Africa’s advancement.

“Somalia stands firmly in support of the AU’s Agenda 2063 and remains committed to justice, dignity, and equality for all African people, both on the continent and in the diaspora,” Abdisalam said.

The summit, which brought together key political and economic blocs from across the continent, focused on harmonizing regional strategies and accelerating the implementation of shared development goals.

Somalia’s active participation comes amid its broader push for reintegration into continental institutions and increasing engagement in regional diplomacy following years of internal conflict.
