Somalia Reaffirms Support for One-China Policy

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia has reaffirmed its firm support for China’s One-China policy, underscoring its position that Taiwan is an integral part of the People’s Republic of China and that Beijing is the sole legitimate government representing China.

In a statement, the Federal Government said the Taiwan issue is an internal matter of China and reiterated its backing for China’s efforts toward national reunification, while upholding United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.

Somali officials said the position reflects Mogadishu’s commitment to the principles of sovereignty, non-interference and mutual respect under international law and the United Nations Charter.

The reaffirmation reinforces Somalia’s diplomatic alignment with China and its support for Beijing’s role in global and multilateral affairs, officials said.
