Somalia Receives ICT Boost to Strengthen Defence and Security Institutions
		GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Defence minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi has hailed the handover of new ICT equipment from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) as a key step toward modernising the country’s security and justice institutions.
The equipment, delivered to the Ministries of Defence, Internal Security, and Justice and Constitutional Affairs, is expected to enhance transparency, accountability, and institutional performance as part of ongoing government reforms.
Minister Fiqi said the initiative reflects the strong partnership between Somalia, the European Union, and the United Nations, noting it demonstrates a shared commitment to building efficient and accountable national institutions.
The ceremony, attended by senior Somali officials and representatives from the EU and UN, highlighted continued international support for Somalia’s efforts to strengthen governance and security structures.
