GOOBJOOG NEWS | RIYADH: Somalia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to develop a framework for cooperation in regulating artificial intelligence (AI) and space technology.

The deal was reached during talks between Mustafa Yasin Sheikh, Director General of Somalia’s National Communications Authority (NCA), and Haitham Alohaly, Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), on the sidelines of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-25) in Riyadh.

Discussions focused on sharing expertise, coordinating regulatory frameworks, and exploring infrastructure partnerships to manage emerging technologies.

Officials said the partnership is aimed at ensuring responsible growth in AI and space industries, while laying the groundwork for broader digital cooperation between the two countries.

The move reflects Somalia’s growing push to position itself in global technology dialogues and Saudi Arabia’s effort to expand its role as a leader in digital transformation.
