Somalia, Saudi Arabia Discuss Closer Ties in Doha Meeting

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DOHA: Somalia and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties during high-level talks held in Doha on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group meeting.

Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalan Abdi Ali (Dhaay), met with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation in areas including trade, development, and regional security.

Both sides also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues, with an emphasis on collaboration for stability in the Horn of Africa and the broader Islamic world.

The meeting reflects growing engagement between Mogadishu and Riyadh as Somalia looks to deepen strategic partnerships within the Gulf and beyond.
