Somalia, Saudi Arabia Sign Deal to Rebuild Sports Facilities and Support Youth Programs
GOOBJOOG NEWS | RIYADH: Somalia and Saudi Arabia have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening sports infrastructure and expanding youth development programs.
Somali Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Abdulkadir Ali met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, in Riyadh where the two sides agreed to partner in rebuilding key stadiums and training facilities across Somalia.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) also outlines joint initiatives to support skills training and job creation for Somali youth, an area the Somali government has identified as central to national stability and long-term growth.
Minister Ali is in Riyadh on an official visit that includes a series of consultations with other ministers from Arab League member states, aimed at enhancing regional cooperation in youth empowerment and sports development.
Somalia has been working to revive public sports infrastructure after years of conflict left many facilities damaged or unusable. The government says rebuilding stadiums and youth centers will help promote social cohesion and expand economic opportunities for young people.
