GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and Saudi Arabia have pledged to strengthen their long-standing bilateral relationship following high-level talks in Mogadishu between Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and Saudi Ambassador Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Mawlid.

During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s office, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in key areas such as economic development, infrastructure, investment, and regional security.

“The relationship between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a vision for progress,” Barre said, expressing appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued engagement and support.

He highlighted Riyadh’s contributions to Somalia’s recovery, particularly in humanitarian assistance, development financing, and security cooperation.

Ambassador Al-Mawlid underscored Saudi Arabia’s desire to play an even greater role in Somalia’s future, emphasizing that the Kingdom sees the East African country as a key partner in the region.

“We are committed to deepening our cooperation and working closely with the Somali government to help realize its development goals,” the ambassador said, noting Saudi Arabia’s readiness to invest in Somalia’s infrastructure and support its security priorities.

The meeting reflects growing momentum in diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations, as Somalia seeks to attract more regional investment and strategic partnerships to accelerate post-conflict recovery and long-term stability.
