Somalia Secures Release of 30 Youth from Sudan Prisons

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU:  The federal government of Somalia has secured the release of 30 Somali citizens who were serving various prison terms in Port-Sudan city, Sudan.

Acting Ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia to Sudan, Ahmed Abdi Hassan confirmed that the young men who had been in prison for five years will be flown back to Somalia.

Hassan said 27 of them were men while 7 others were female adding that they were arrested while attempting to migrate to Europe.

“We are still trying to find out the whereabouts of 11 other teenagers were abducted at an area about 1000 kilometers to Port-Sudan city. The youth were on a bus at the time of incident,” Hassan said.

He at the same time thanked United Nations’ International Organization for Immigration (IOM) for its role in rescuing those young people who trapped in Sudan that is currently experiencing conflict between two warring sides.
