GOOBJOOG NEWS | RIYADH: Federal Government of Somalia’s Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibriil Abdirashiid Abdi told a global industry gathering on Monday that the country is entering a “historic and decisive moment” as it pushes to attract international investment and expand its blue-economy potential.

Speaking at the 21st UNIDO General Conference, Abdi said Somalia’s long Indian Ocean coastline positions it to become a regional centre for sustainable fisheries, with the government prioritising maritime protection, processing industries and global market access.

He said Somalia is strengthening efforts to improve food security, boost fisheries output and draw new investment into emerging blue-economy sectors.

The deputy prime minister also highlighted the importance of Somalia’s young population, saying the government is widening partnerships on technical training and digital innovation to support youth-led economic growth.
