GOOBJOOG NEWS | KARACHI: Somalia is set to benefit from enhanced maritime cooperation with Pakistan following high-level talks held during the Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi.

Somali Ambassador Sheikhnur Mohamed Hassan and Navy Commander General Abdiwahab Abdullahi Omar met with Pakistan’s Deputy Naval Chief, Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, to discuss expanding collaboration in naval training, coastal security, and protection of international sea routes, areas seen as critical to Somalia’s maritime resurgence.

The partnership is expected to strengthen Somalia’s naval capabilities and support efforts to secure its coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone, a key national priority.

Ambassador Sheikhnur said the cooperation reflects Somalia’s commitment to building a capable navy and advancing opportunities in the blue economy with the support of trusted partners.
