Somalia set to attend this year’s Africa Oil Week
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somalia will be among the oil-rich countries that will be attending this year’s Africa Oil Week, a prestigious global platform where the leading figures in Africa’s oil and gas industry will gather to build contacts and make deals that will define Africa’s energy transition over the coming years.
The Minister of Petroleum and Minerals of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdirisaq Omar Mohamed Maanta, will be among more than 30 government ministers and officials from across Africa and beyond that will be heading to Johannesburg, South Africa for the event.
The summit, which has been running annually for the last 27 years, will be held from 3rd–7th October in Cape Town under the theme: Sustainable Growth in a Low Carbon World.
The event coincides with the announcement by the Somaliland Minister of Minerals and Oil that traces of oil have been found in a water well in Salahley district, Marodijeh region. He also stated that the oil drilling company assigned to the project will start working on it soon.
