Somalia Showcases Fiscal Reform Success at Arab States Finance Conference
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BEIRUT: Federal Republic of Somalia’s Finance Minister Bihi Iman Egeh has said the country’s sweeping financial reforms are transforming its economy and enabling greater investment in education, health, and welfare, as the government consolidates gains from years of fiscal discipline.
Speaking at the Arab States Conference on Public Finance and Budgetary Issues in Beirut, Egeh said Somalia’s recovery from conflict has been anchored in transparency, technology-driven revenue systems, and strong public financial management.
He highlighted that completing debt relief under the HIPC Initiative marked a turning point for Somalia, restoring investor confidence and opening space for sustainable development spending.
“Somalia’s success shows that even nations emerging from conflict can rebuild credibility and create a foundation for inclusive growth,” Egeh said.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining fiscal stability and channeling resources toward sectors that directly improve citizens’ lives.
